PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO

PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO: is a 2015 Indian Bollywood romantic drama film, written and directed by Sooraj Barjatya starring Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Armaan Kohli, Anupam Kher, Deepak Dobriyal, Swara Bhaskar. It is loosely based on The Prisoner of Zenda is an adventure novel by Anthony Hope, published in 1894 from which bengali movie "Jhinder Bandi" was made.

PLOT: In Pritampur, an estate in North India, Yuvraj Vijay Singh (Salman Khan) a prince of Pritampur, is soon to be crowned as king and is engaged to princess Maithili (Sonam Kapoor), but due to his stubborn nature Vijay faces many problems with Maithali as well as his brother and sisters. His step sisters Rajkumari Chandrika (Swara Bhaskar) and Rajkumari Radhika (Aashika Bhatia) lives in a separate house outside royal fort, while his step brother Yuvraj Ajay Singh (Neil Nitin Mukesh) wants to kill him and take the Crown with the help of his manager Chirag Singh (Armaan Kohli), who is misguiding Ajay at every step. They plan an attack on Yuvraj Vijay, which Vijay survives but gets badly injured just days before his coronation While the prince recuperates in a secret chamber within the royal fort, his lookalike Prem reaches Pritampur to meet her along with his friend Kanhaiya (Deepak Dobriyal). At the bus stop, The Security head of Pritampur Palace,Sanjay(Deepraj Rana) notices him by chance, and takes him to Diwan sahib (Anupam Kher) a small-time entertainer from a nearby town, is discreetly recruited to take his place so the formalities can go off without a hitch. Can Prem crack the code and infuse happiness all around? Does he succeed in keeping the fort’s age-old traditions alive? Can he find real culprit?

PERFROMANCES: Salman Khan is good in his double role, gives this weightless film an occasional push and a shove in the right direction, but Sonam drags it back with an unconvincing performance.Deepak Dobriyal is also good and contributes to the laugh-out-loud moments None of the other actors in the cast is allowed to be anything more than a glorified extra.

MUSIC: composed by Himesh Reshammiya. There r 10 songs in the film :( .Among them the song "Prem leela","prem ratan dhan payo","Jab tum chaho","Jalte diye" & ünse kehna hai" are good to listen.

It is a predictable, old fashioned, full of emotionally engaging, lenghty film.Usage of unnecessary songs drags the film a lot which makes u feel tired. The director repeats his 80's same formula like men versus women sporting contests, midnight kitchen rendezvous.
The cinematography helps gloss over a lot of flaws in the film. The shot where there's an attack on Vijay's life is captured exceptionally well. V Manikandan's camera deserves much praise for the same.

Overall,Prem Ratan Dhan Payo might not be that bad but recommended for home viewing only for Salman.

SHAANDAAR

SHAANDAAR: is an Indian romantic comedy film, directed by Vikas Bahl stars Alia Bhatt,Shahid Kapoor,Pankaj Kapur,Sushma Seth,Sanah Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor.

PLOT: The princess is an orphaned child, Alia (Alia Bhatt), who has been adopted by a kind man, Bipin Arora (Pankaj Kapur). The kind father gifts her a box of dreams and hopes she will meet a prince who will put her to sleep. As in all fairy tales, there is a witch. She is a wheelchair-bound powerful naani(Sushma Seth), who lives in a castle in some unknown country.Main story the film takes place during a wedding between two families, which is nothing more than a deal to save both the bankrupt families, each counting on the other's wealth.Jagjinder Joginder(Shahid) is the wedding organiser.Jagjinder & Alia met and fall for each other.incidentally,Jagjinder is also insomniac.Rest of the film is about marriage,alia-jagjinder love story,father-daughter relationship.

PERFORMANCES: Shahid,Alia,Pankaj Kapoor's acting are awesome.Shahid-Alia's chemistry is very good.Sanah Kapoor (who’s Pankaj Kapoor’s real-life daughter and Shahid’s half-sister) brings grace & will literally steal your heart away with her dimpled smile and natural banter in the movie.

MUSIC: composed by Amit Trivedi. The complete album is good specially "Gulaabo" ,"Sham shaandaar","Nazdeekiyaan".

Director Vikas Bahl wanted to make a fairy tale.He became partially successful but he added lots of useless, unnecessary scenes that ruined the charm of the film.Audience will loose interest.Script is poorly written. Length of the film could be 30mins less.Good use of animation can be seen. The film had the potential to be a good film

Overall,Shaandaar is an average film & can be watched once for acting of leading actors & music.

PLOT: Guddu (Kunal Khemu) is washing powder salesman in Kolkata. Originally from Bihar, Guddu is popular amongst the housewives of Kolkata with whom he is intimately involved. While Guddu is happy being the pleasure provider for these ladies, he cheats on one of the girls named Bhloi(Aparna Shama) who has fallen in love with him and is forced to pay a price for his act. Bholi's dadu(Biplab Chatterjee) curses him in an unexpected way which leads to Guddu’s genitals turning into gold.To get rid of it,Guddu has to find his true love & marries her.Atlast he finds his true love in an ugly looking girl Kaali(Payel Sarkar) whose marriage already been fixed.Kaali's father demands Rs.10lacs from Guddu to marry her daughter.Helping him in the process is a loyal friend Laddoo(Sumeet Vyas). The duo must dodge the greedy sexologist(Brijedra Kala),his sexy nurse(Flora Saini),her reporter boyfriend,a don(Jameel Khan) and an antique dealer named Antique Moshai(Shantilal) who are after the gold. Does he succeed?

PERFRORMANCES: Kunal Khemu is a complete entertainer in this film. We are reminded of his super funny act in Go Goa Gone and it is great to see him apply his comic timing once again. His Bihari accent is superb.Sumit Vyas may call himself a ‘side hero’ in the film but well, he comes across like the parallel lead. He nails Laddu’s character and will leave you in splits with his act.The supporting cast includes Payal Sarkar, Flora Saini, Brijedra Kala, Jameel Khan & Shaantilal Mukherjee all are good.

MUSIC: composed by Vikram Singh, Soumyajit Banerjee, Raju Sardar. No song is up to the mark & used unnecessarily.

Its a completely brainless adult comedy having very funny dialogues, some hilarious comic situations.

Overall, Guddu ki Gun is not a must-watch or showing any sort of cinematic brilliance but this film will make you laugh for sure.
