BOMBAY VELVET

BOMBAY VELVET: is a. Indian period crime drama film directed by Anurag Kashyap, based on historian Gyan Prakash's book Mumbai Fables. It stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma ,Karan Johar ,Kay Kay Menon, Manish Choudhary, Vivaan Shah.
PLOT: Ambitious Johnny Balraj (Ranbir), dreaming of becoming a big shot, is used by ruthless magnate Kaizaad Khambatta (Karan) to fix business and settle scores. Johnny adores jazz singer Rosie (Anushka) and with buddy Chiman (Satyadeep), manages Kaizaad's Bombay Velvet nightclub which Khambatta uses to further his illegal tasks and activities.Rosie is sent by a media reporter Jimmy Mistry to find a photo film by which Khambatta blackmails a minister to approve khambatta's illegal plans.Rosie works there as Jazz singer and both fall in love.Mistry threatens to reveal Rosie's true identity to Johnny. Therefore, Rosie begins to supply information about Johnny & Khambatta's activities to Mistri. After a photograph of a secret meeting between Bombay's big-shots is leaked, Khambatta manages to guess that it was Rosie supplying the information and orders her to be killed. Johnny hears of this and forms an enemity with Khambatta. Can Johnny save Rosie, then what happens to Khambatta and can he become Big shot are rest of the story.
PERFORMANCES: Ranbir & Anushka both are very good.Karan Johar is also good in his negative role.In cameo role,Kay Kay Menon justifies his character.
MUSIC: composed by Amit Trivedi. He has created the reflection the age of 1960s Jazz era of Bollywood. The song "Fifi","Mohabbat Buri Bimari" are good composions.
It is one of the most stylish-looking Hindi films, its glowing cinematography and sharp detailing presenting a heady, greedy city, full of nightmares and dreams.Old bombay has been beautifully recreated by special effects. But script is very poor and boring. It fails to create any impact on audiences. Its very unnecessarily lengthy film.
Overall,Bomaby Velvet is average ,not up to the mark.It can watched once for cinematography and performances of Ranbir & Anushka.
