JAZBAA: is an Indian thriller-drama film directed by Sanjay Gupta starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan,Irrfan Khan, Shabana Azmi, Atul Kulkarni and Chandan Roy Sanyal. It is a remake of the 2007 South Korean film Seven Days.
PLOT: Advocate Anuradha Verma (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) is a single mother, whose daughter Sanaya is kidnapped from school.Kidnapper wants her to acquit a rapist murderer Miyaz(Chandan) in exchange of her daughter – in a few days of time.Police officer Yohan (Irrfan),school friend of Anuradha,is suspended on corruption charges. She has to fight the case of a rapist and murderer inside the courtroom to ensure her daughter is safe. Will Anuradha be able to save her daughter in time? Will she win this case ?This is the rest of the story,
PERFORMANCES:It’s Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s comeback film and it is definitely a delight to see her on-screen again. While she looks brilliant as a stern advocate.Irrfan Khan as always gives a terrific performance. He gets the punchlines and he makes gold of it. Shabana Azmi is the true hero of the film. She puts up a brilliant act as an emotional mother of a rape victim who has been murdered.Atul Kulkarni plays the government prosecutor. His role too is limited and hence does not make much impact.Chandan Roy Sanyal is an actor of great potential but is wasted in this film.
MUSIC: is composed by Amjad-Nadeem, Arko Pravo Mukherjee and Badshah."Bandeyaa" is very good composition by Amjad-Nadeem.
"Jazbaa's narrative has pace and power, run time of two hours, allowing you little time to think. The court-room scenes are brilliant. It could be said that the soul of the movie is the style of screenplay.
Overall,Jazbaa is compelling and an ensemble that lived up-to its expectation. This is very much watchable.
