GUDDU RANGEELA

GUDDU RANGEELA: is an Indian comedy film, directed by Subhash Kapoor starringArshad Warsi, Amit Sadh , Aditi Rao Hyadri and Ronit Roy in lead roles.

PLOT: The story unfolds somewhere in the interiors of Haryana where Guddu (Amit Sadh) and Rangeela (Arshad Warsi) are two fake folk singers: They decide on becoming one right after an overnight 'jagran' where the two entertain people by crooning 'Mata Ka E Mail'. Soon they turn into informers, but with a difference: they see no difference between the police and the local gangsters, and pass on information to anybody who's ready to pay them. Life takes another twist for the two when Gora Bengali (Dibyendu Bhattacharya) walks into their lives. He strikes a deal with them to kidnap  the deaf and mute Baby (Aditi Rao Hydari) in exchange for a sum of ten lakh rupees. Being 'opportunists' the duo grab this offer with both their hands, only to be shocked to know that Baby has a hidden secret. On probing, she reveals that she (who is Billu Pehalwan's(Ronit Roy) estranged sister-in-law) wants to avenge the death of her sister from Billu, who had tortured and killed her because of dowry.Rangeela reveals his past life and it is shown that Rangeela had also his enemity with Billu for last 10 yrs.Now the duo teams up with her to take down their common enemy, village bully Billu Pehalwan, who dutifully dispenses the brutal justice pronounced by the local khap panchayat.o they manage to get the ransom money for kidnapping, what is the reason for Rangeela wanting to kill Billo and what is it that Billo reveals to Rangeela that leaves him speechless is what forms the rest of the film.

PERFORMANCES: Ronit Roy is just superb. His mannerism screams of the modern-day Gabbar. His walk, holster and tight grip on women’s neck present him as one of the tougher bad guys of recent times. His blank gaze is extremely menacing and his gravitas mesmerising, both at the same time.Arshad Warsi is also very good & his comic timing is awesome.Amit Sadh is good and he improves a lot from his 1st film.Adity looked very good and justified her role. The supporting cast, led by Dibyendu Bhattacharya, is also on the top of their game. One actor who steals just about every scene that he is in is the grossly underrated Rajeev Gupta, who plays bumbling Haryanvi cop Gulaab Singh, with extraordinary aplomb

MUSIC: composed by Amit Trivedi. The songs "Maata ka email" & "Sooiyaan" are very good.

Director Subhash Kapoor should get credit for  a tight script, story which is beautifully told & direction. The movie starts with a lighthearted comedy but it turns to be serious gradually.

Overall,Guddu Rangeela is surely watchable for a lighthearted film about a deadly serious subject.
